Volunteer for Room and Board

Are you an Oberlin College or Conservatory student looking for a place to call home? Do you enjoy interacting with other generations? Kendal at Oberlin offers an applied learning residency program for college students, interns, or recent graduates who wish to experience intergenerational living. Ask about our North Pleasant Connection.

About the North Pleasant Connection

In exchange for a specified number of service hours per week, students will have free room and board at Kendal. The room is one bedroom in duplex housing adjacent to our campus. With two bedrooms on each side, Kendal has room for up to 4 students. Meals in our dining rooms are offered at no cost to program participants. Each side of the home includes one full bath, living room, dine-in kitchen with appliances, and a washer and dryer. WiFi is provided.

North Pleasant volunteers will have the opportunity to connect with our Kendal at Oberlin residents in many meaningful ways. Students can join residents over a meal, relax in the lounge, read in the library, or visit each other in the many community spaces.

Kendal at Oberlin encourages students of the North Pleasant Connection Program to engage with residents informally. Student programs will be based upon their learning objectives or required class curriculum. For more information about the North Pleasant Connection, be in touch with Michele Tarsitano-Amato at 440-775-5890.

Share your talents. Do you play an instrument? Sing? Knit or crochet? Perhaps you could share your computer skills or love of fine arts. Group and individual interactions are available.
