Update on Construction at Kendal at Oberlin
Phase II Cottages Completed
by Terry Kovach,
Admissions Associate

We are happy to say that the new Phase II cottages are completed and all of the new residents have moved in. These beautiful and spacious homes are located around the large pond on the northwest corner of Kendal's campus.
Kendal's newer cottages feature spacious rooms, vaulted ceilings in the living rooms, plenty of storage, large utility rooms with energy-efficient appliances and more. As with all of our cottages, they are built in a way that maintains and protects the natural beauty of the space that surrounds them. Sizes range from a one-bedroom cottage at 987 square feet to a two-bedroom + den deluxe cottage at 1,849 square feet. The Phase II cottages wrap around Rock Pond so that each living room overlooks the water.
Cottages planned for Phase III will be located just south of the Phase II site. Utility work and site preparation has already been completed for Phase III cottages. As before, 12 more spacious homes are on the drawing board. Tentative plans have these new spaces ready for occupancy some time in 2011 - 2012. At this time, we are hoping to offer agreements for this next group of cottages early in 2010.
Our construction crew is now working on improving dining services in the Heiser Community Center. The plans are to create an enticing and flexible dining space for residents, and to improve food preparation and storage areas. We continue to provide meals for our residents during construction by creating temporary dining space in the Heiser Lounge. Infrastructure improvements and work on the "back of the house" - the kitchen - are under way, as is demolition of the Fox and Fell Dining room to make way for its expansion.
As we continue to move forward, we will post updates and photos of our progress. Be
sure to check back here periodically. For more information, contact us in the admissions office at 1-800-548-9469 or by e-mail at admissions@kao.kendal.org.
