Giving...warms
the heart and enriches our community.
If we watch or read the news, it seems that natural and man-made
disasters are happening all around the world. Events like Hurricane
Katrina often lead people to question the future and leave
optimism in short supply. Yet here at Kendal, there is a sense
of calm and of a secure future. We believe that this flows from
the efforts of board, residents, staff, and caring friends working
together.

A Culture of
Mutual Caring and Mutual Giving
Charitable giving for the benefit of Kendal at Oberlin provides
an opportunity for our contributors to play a meaningful role
in Kendal’s culture of mutual caring and mutual giving,
unique to the interests and preferences of each contributor.
What the Funds
Support:
Gifts support these goals of our Kendal at Oberlin Community:
- Helping our community to fulfill a strong charitable mission
that enables residents to benefit from quality programs, services
and care regardless of economic status.
- Ensuring that Kendal at Oberlin will grow stronger financially,
and more affordable to serve a greater number of older persons.
- Engaging in continuing education aimed at developing our
staff, improving our services and living up to our mission.
The Residents Assistance Fund-
Kendal at Oberlin maintains a charitable fund that provides financial
assistance for residents, primarily to those who outlive their
resources or experience financial difficulties. Over the next
decade , the fund is expected to have a long-term liability of
three to four million dollars. These funds can support monthly
fee assistance or one-time grant needs and are distributed with
complete confidentiality for the recipients. <back

The Board Designated Assistance Fund
provides partial entry fee grants for applicants who
might not otherwise be able to enter Kendal at Oberlin. These
funds enable us to serve individuals who because of a lifetime
of service, religious, educational or charitable work may not
have accumulated assets to cover the full costs of living in a
Kendal community. Funds may be limited for this purpose based
on periodic assessment of community needs. <back

The Stephens Education Fund supports
staff interested in careers in long term care or other programs
that can contribute to improvements in the field of care for the
aging. Contributions make possible tuition assistance, periodic
internships, and special training to enhance on- the- job skills.

The Kendal Endowment Fund,
established in 2003 offers the flexibility of meeting both contributor
and organizational needs. Unrestricted endowment gifts have the
potential to assist in meeting current general expenses thus helping
to defray annual fee increases and benefiting all residents. A
second type of gift to the Endowment Fund may support specific
interests of the donor and be mutually valued by Kendal. Such
restricted funds may be approved to carry the name of a person
specially recognized in the title of the endowed fund. <back
