December 23, 2020: Update to Residents
Happy Holidays and Merry Christmas!

May joy and hope fill each of our hearts and homes this holiday season. We have been through much in 2020, and there is a warm light growing on the horizon of 2021. We are grateful for the mutual support and encouragement we have been able to give to one another through the trials and successes of this past year. Most of all, we have once again been reminded how treasured and valued we are to one another as one community in kindred fellowship and interdependence. Abiding Peace to All!
No Update on Friday
Due to the Christmas Holiday, there will be no Nightly Update on Friday. Our next Nightly Update will be Monday, December 28. If there is breaking news beforehand, we will send that out.
Langston Market Cancelled Next Week 12/30/2020
Proper distancing is key to the continued safety of our community and we have determined that our best option is to skip the market to allow space for all of the traffic the vaccine distribution will generate. Thanks for your continued support in these extraordinary times!
COVID-19 Vaccination Clinics Next Week!

We are delighted to announce that over 250 Independent Living Residents have indicated their intention to receive the COVID-19 Vaccination. Stephens Care Center Residents/Families and Kendal Staff members continue to respond.
Many residents have reached out wondering if their Survey Monkey form was received. In fact, we have received a number of submissions 2 or 3 times from a number of residents. If you saw the last page of the SurveyMonkey that said “Thank You”–in small print–your submission went through. We will be sending out appointments on Monday for Independent Living residents and staff members. On Monday, we will also reach out to any IL residents we have not heard from just in case something did not go through. We will make sure we have heard from all on campus IL residents.
We hope residents are understanding that due to the quickness of this Vaccination Clinic Announcement from Walgreens and the holiday, we cannot set appointments any sooner than Monday for next Wednesday. We thank you in advance for your flexibility and grace. We also understand that some residents have appointments with Buckeye Community Bank on December 30. We are coordinating with Buckeye Community Bank to work through any conflicts that might arise as our schedule is set for vaccinations.
Independent Living Residents: Wednesday, December 30, Beginning at 9am in the Auditorium
- IL Residents will be provided an appointment time next Monday, December 28, to receive their vaccination on December 30.

Kendal at Oberlin is strongly encouraging all residents and staff to receive the COVID-19 Vaccination.
Kendal will not be given extra COVID-19 Vaccines
Some residents and staff have inquired about Kendal having additional COVID-19 vaccines available if a resident or staff member is out of town. Walgreens will not be able to leave any vaccine with us, and even if they did, we would have no way to safely store it due to the subzero (-70 C) storage requirements. If a resident or staff member is unable to make either the December or January COVID-19 Vaccination Clinic dates, they are encouraged to check with their health providers for other options.
- First Clinic – Wednesday, December 30, or Thursday, December 31, (administering the 1st dosage)
- Second Clinic – Wednesday, January 20, or Thursday, January 21, (administering 2nd dosage and 1st dosage for those that did not receive on Dec 31)
- Third Clinic – Wednesday, February 10, or Thursday, February 11, (administering final 2nd dosage
