Walmart Grocery Delivery 9/3/20
Apologies for those who had an excessively long wait on Thursday. Polly was working with Walmart to determine what happened. The hold-up was partially due to a resident who uses two different names for her orders. This creates problems!

In Honor of the Holiday Weekend MOVIE EXTRAVAGANZA:
Which Alfred Hitchcock film starred Grace Kelly as Lisa Carol Fremont? Do you know how many films have Kate Winslet and Leonardo DiCaprio starred in together? Or the first word spoken in Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back? What about the name of the second James Bond film? Can you name the classic film from which the iconic line ‘Frankly my dear, I don’t give a damn’ came?
While we had the unfortunate result of losing lots of branches and trees last Friday, Rachel Duncan’s connection with the Cleveland Zoo (her husband works there) helped us connect a very useful purpose to have the zoo cart away branches and leaves for the animals’ enjoyment and to enhance their natural habitat.

Please join us this Thursday, September 3, at 7pm Eastern Time on a Zoom Meeting as we share the procedures we have planned with the Lorain County Board of Elections to ensure voter integrity and opportunity this year.

Outdoor Movies start Friday Night
Equipment has been secured for a Holiday Weekend with Movies Outdoors and Indoors at Kendal. Location: Apartment Lawn used for croquet and bocce ball. Thanks to our resident and staff leaders making this possible.
Please bring your own lawn chair for outdoor movies, if possible. Kendal will have a limited supply of our new folding chairs purchased for outside visiting.
Harvey, a 1950 movie starring Jimmy Stewart, will be shown on Friday night starting at 8:15pm. Stewart shines in this Pulitzer Prize-winning play as the good-natured Elwood P. Dowd, whose constant companion is a six-foot tall rabbit that only he can see.
Saturday- Movie “IN” on your Kendal TV channel 920. Milagro Beanfield War. A Chicano farmer attempts to irrigate his land despite the objections of townspeople and land developers.
Sunday- Movie will be OUTSIDE, starting at 8:15 pm. “Norma Rae” (1979), Sally Field won an Oscar for her role as a single mom who reluctantly becomes a leader of an effort to unionize the workers of her cotton mill. This is based on a true story.
Monday- Movie will be OUTSIDE, “Babe”, a pig who doesn’t conform to the farm’s social hierarchy and avoids being the Christmas dinner.
Pet Salon at Kendal on Saturday
Kerry Trent will be at the front gate on Saturday, September 5, to trim the nails of cats and small dogs. Please call or email Priscilla Steinberg to set up a time. Appointments for each only take about 10 minutes.
New Kendal Early Learning Center Website is now LIVE
Requests to Transport Voters to Board of Elections
We will do our best to transport residents that do not drive who are part of a household to the Board of Elections to drop off their ballots. Our preference is that you get it in the mail early or follow the procedures to have Kendal’s deputies help you do your voting here. If you do not drive and your choice is to take your ballot to drop it off at the Board of Elections, please sign up near the mailboxes so we can plan the trips. Only 5 persons can travel at one time, and we are offering this only for households that do not have a driver. We will schedule trips based on signups and alert you when you are scheduled.
REPEAT ITEM – With Corrections

October 31 – Hand-delivered Absentee Ballots may be brought to the Board of Elections directly by October 31. (Absolute deadline is 7:30pm on Election Day, November 3, but best to avoid last-minute voting.)

Starting next Tuesday, September 8, meal distribution will begin around 3:30pm and we hope to have all meals delivered by 5:30pm.

Starting next Tuesday, September 8, meal distribution will begin around 3:30pm and we hope to have all meals delivered by 5:30pm.
Our apologies to those who have become accustomed to eating a large mid-day meal. One suggestion I have heard from several residents is to hold one day’s meal in the refrigerator so you are actually eating the meal delivered the day before. Because the meals are blast-chilled and delivered cold, this is a safe practice provided you keep your meal refrigerated. Questions? Call Greg Zehe at 775-9806.
Courtyard Garden Tours Available
If you missed a chance to tour the Courtyard Garden on Monday, you can still tour on Saturday, September 5, from 9-12pm. Correction: Thanks to Tom Taylor (and Mary Behm), helpers for David. Phil Pritchett was incorrectly mentioned. Phil serves as the SCC KORA representative. Tom Konkoly caught a picture of the 12-foot sunflowers before the big rainstorm last Friday.
Results of Stephens Care Center Staff COVID-19 Testing on Monday, August 24
Most of the results from our Stephens Care Center Staff COVID-19 testing have been received, as of mid-day today, all results returned have been negative for COVID-19. We are waiting for a few more test results to be returned. Our next Stephens Care Center Staff COVID-19 Testing will take place on Wednesday, September 2, as part of our mandatory two-week testing cadence with the Ohio Department of Health.
